Tonge Bridge Timber - Acquisition

Added 9th January 2019

The Beers Group of companies is always expanding and growing, and our most recent acquisition is Bolton-based timber merchant Tonge Bridge Timber. The purchase of Tonge Bridge Timber was completed in December 2018 and will increase group turnover to £37m with the enlarged group now employing approximately 160 staff throughout our depots in the North West.

Tonge Bridge Timber is an importer and manufacturer of machined timber products, supplying to timber & builders’ merchants, and large end users in the north of England from its three-acre machining facility in Bolton. Tonge Bridge Timber has built a reputation with its customers for supplying high-quality products with excellent customer service.

Our managing director Michael Beer said: “I am very pleased and excited to have completed the purchase of Tonge Bridge Timber, being a family-owned business, we see many similarities in culture between the two businesses”

“The purchase will enhance and complement our position as suppliers of quality timber and building materials in the North West. There is great potential to grow the business and integrate it within our existing businesses.”

The existing management team and staff at Tonge Bridge Timber lead by managing director Andrew Broddle will be staying on to run the business. Previous co-owner Brian Kirkpatrick will ultimately be retiring from the business but is continuing in the short term as a consultant.

A very warm welcome from all of us at Beers to our new colleagues at Tonge Bridge.
